Nominations, 2 days to go....

If you have not already, please take a few minutes to nominate Jaerv as the group of the year. Just click HERE.

We have received some wonderful comments, here are some of them;

”Jaerv has successfully broadened the audience for folk music. By intertwining a bit of jazz and pop, they have invited a younger audience to appreciate the wonderful world of folk music. I introduced Jaerv’s music to my young music students and they loved it! They danced like I had never seen them dance before with such delight and joy! I also saw the smiles on faces of all ages as I saw Jaerv entertaining at a festival. Jaerv has found a way to make some ancient songs quite fresh and their original songs are innovative and captivating. This intriguing quintet can play a variety of instruments quite skillfully and their music is very addicting. The harmonies as they sing can put one in a bit of a euphoric mood desiring nothing more than for them to continue singing. Another reason that Jaerv deserves a nomination, is that beyond just being amazing musicians, they are also committed to bringing their music to audiences around the world, as they have shown in their recent tours to the United States and Japan. They are also involved in music education as they go into schools to perform and even occasionally invite the students to perform with them. They also have provided workshops in which other folk musicians can join with them to have fun and perhaps learn something new as they share together their common passion for folk music. In addition to a successful multi-country tour this year, Jaerv released their third studio album, entitled Under den linden. Listening to Jaerv makes me want to be a better musician as well as a better person. I am inspired.”,

Dear friends: Please nominate Jaerv for the World Music Gala 2017

It is time to nominate Jaerv to the World Music Award Gala. We were so grateful for all the nominations last year, they were really amazing. And so will this year's be!

You can nominate us to "the group (grupp) of the year" and/or if you really like Under den linden, please consider a nomination for "the issue (utgåva) of the year". The deadline is December 31!

Here is the link (In Swedish):

Here are some of the nominations from last year:

”, ”Svängiga och skickliga”, ”Jaerv’s music blows me away every time I listen to it. Their original compositions are a great pleasure to listen to, and make me want to dance whenever I hear them; their arrangements of traditional songs and tunes are innovative, slick, and almost perfectly executed; their playing is masterful and tight, and their vocal harmonies are mellifluous and incredibly well-blended. When watching them performing live it’s obvious to me that they love what they do; there’s an infectious sense of joy in every saw of a bow, every pluck of a string, every beat from a drumstick and every breath emitting from a flute, saxophone or human mouth. This is a bunch of VERY deserving dudes, and I would love to see them awarded for their hard work, selflessness and dedication.”, ”Vilka musikaliskt begåvade killar!

Under den linden gets high scores in UNT-review

We are happy to share this nice review of Under den linden. It's from Uppsala Nya Tidning 29th of October.

ENG:

Five men strong Jaerv is a good example of the urge for Swedish folk music abroad. The group has recently returned from their third successful US tour, has toured Europe and has just finished their third album "Under den linden". Which becomes a powerful listening, with almost epic breadth of moods and expressions. Yes, the sense of musical drama, a coherent story that looks to both the old Swedish folk music as well as Finnish tradition and self-composed.

There are suggestive archaic song parts, for example in a polonaise from Småland, an intimate ballad with finely arranged acoustic guitars, Celtic sounding flute and compelling bowing. And the playing sometimes pulls on an exciting way to jazz and improvisation. All the time carefully and never too much. Jaerv stands out as a rare full-fledged folk group.
